DHX creates rights strategy role

DHX Media in Canada has appointed a VP of rights strategy and a commercial director at its UK-based online network and studio WildBrain.

Lara Ilie has been appointed to the newly created role of VP of rights strategy, reporting to Anne Loi, DHX’s chief commercial officer.

Based in DHX’s Toronto offices, Ilie will develop and help implement integrated strategies to monetise the company’s portfolio of intellectual property rights across business units and territories, DHX said.

In addition, Ilie will manage sales of DHX’s extensive children’s content library in Canada, Italy, Spain and Australia.

Ilie has worked for the firm since 2007 and was previously senior director of sales, responsible for Iberia, Italy, Benelux, Nordics, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Prior to DHX Media, she worked in sales and acquisitions for Romanian Television and Pro TV.

“With her in-depth knowledge of DHX Media’s rights business, Lara is the ideal person to help us further identify and advance integrated strategies to propel our rights business on the next phase of growth,” said DHX Media president Josh Scherba.

In related news, DHX-owned WildBrain has appointed Rachel Taylor to the London-based position of commercial director, reporting to Jon Gisby, WildBrain MD.

Responsible for expanding WildBrain’s commercial partnership business with third-party brands, Taylor leads WildBrain’s sales and operations teams, as well as client management.

During her career, Taylor has held senior business and commercial roles at Sony Pictures Entertainment and at Twentieth Century Fox. Prior to joining WildBrain, she was international sales director for Australian toy company, Funtastic.
