Lucio’s Treasure
Production company: Vértice 360, Spain
This series is based on the real-life story of Lucio Urtubia, an ordinary man who almost bankrupted a major US bank – and got away with it.
Urtubia is a modest bricklayer living in Paris. However, beneath his apparently harmless exterior he is an anarchist responsible for a network of cheque forgers that endanger the stability of the First National City Bank. In charge of the investigation, French judge Marianne Ross and the bank’s security director, former Scotland Yard inspector Geoffrey Heggart, discover the impressive personality of Urtubia – a man who is said to have met Che Guevara.
“The project is in development; we are looking for coproducers in the US and partners to finance the project,” says Alberto Rull, exec VP of production and content at Vértice 360 and producer of the project.
Lucio’s Treasure has a total budget of US$8m, with US$60,000 confirmed for the development phase, and has also added tax credit options in Spain, France and the UK. In addition, Seven. One Studios International (formerly Red Arrow) will be in charge of distribution.
With more than 20 years in the market and presence in more than 33 countries, Vértice 360 distributes, produces and creates content in Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. It has more than 2,000 titles in its catalog, including Verdugos, produced together with Dexiderius, which was the only Latin American project selected for the 2023 edition of Series Mania.
The Guardians
Production company: Cinefilm, Brazil
From the Amazon jungle, the first nations of the Umã territory decide to create an armed patrol to fight the violence of which they are victims. Sisters Laura, Vitória and Neide are the three faces of this struggle and have to find ways to coexist and resist.
The Guardians is in development with Brazilian independent production company Cinefilm and has initial financing in place thanks to its agreement with the international group Non Stop International, which will support the project with equipment and in post-production.
“The total estimated budget is US$6.5m and, through Non Stop, a company associated with Cinefilm in Brazil, we accessed 10% of that value. We are looking for a coproducer who can finance 40% to 49% of the budget outside Brazil,” says Fernanda Senatori, executive director of Cinefilm.
To this end, the production company is at Content Americas looking for partners who can collaborate in the development phase, helping to curate the project for international audiences and raise financing outside Brazil.
“We want to present the project to production companies, distributors and studios that can help us sell the series to streaming companies outside Brazil,” Senatori adds.
Although Cinefilm is recognised as one of the largest producers of children’s and youth projects in Brazil, such as the local Disney originals Juacas, Não Foi Minha Culpa and Tudo Igual… SQN!, since 2020 the company has reformulated itself to open the door to more adult and international projects.
Highlights include coproductions such as the animated feature Dalia & the Red Book, with Vista Sur from Argentina, Golem Studio from Peru and Doce Entertainment in Spain; the series Maria e o Cangaço, with Paranoid BR and Coiote for Star+; and the original series Americana, also for Star+. The latter project is based on the true story of 2,000 American families who migrated to Brazil after the Civil War to settle in the interior of São Paulo.

The series highlights athletes from multiple countries such as Brazil, Canada, the US and Argentina, where we are looking for coproducers to shoot the missing scenes in those territories,” adds the producer.
