Deep State enters US with Epix

Mark Strong plays the lead in spy thriller Deep State

MGM’s US pay TV network Epix is among a host of international broadcasters to have picked up a new espionage thriller starring Mark Strong (Kingsman – The Golden Circle).

Deep State (8×60) is produced by Endor Productions and is the first regionally commissioned scripted drama from Fox Networks Group Europe and Africa. Epix has taken exclusive US rights.

The drama has also been picked up by SBS in Australia, NBCUniversal in France, Super Channel in Canada, TVNZ in New Zealand and DRTV in Denmark with further announcements to follow.

Producer Hilary Bevan Jones (Cracker, State of Play), showrunner and writer Matthew Parkhill (Rogue), producer Tom Nash (The Escape Artist, The Dark Outside) and director Robert Connolly (Paper Planes, The Slap) are also part of the line-up on the production.

Deep State moves between the personal story of a family man fighting to escape his past and the excesses of government and global corporate power. Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones) and Karima McAdams (Vikings) star alongside Strong.

Fox Networks Group Content Distribution holds the exclusive global distribution rights to the show, working in partnership with FNG Europe and Africa.

The series will premiere from April 5 on Fox Europe and Africa.
