Decode and Animus team up for YTV toon

Decode Entertainment has seen a greenlight from Canadian kids channel YTV for its latest project, Girls' Stuff Boys' Stuff, a co-production with the UK's Animus.

The toon, created by Animus, follows the adolescent adventures of three boys and three girls, with the all-important interactive hook being that viewers can create 3D models of themselves to interact with the characters.

{With ensemble animations, we found that kids always have a favourite character,{ said Decode's UK partner Neil Court at the recent inTELEgence 2001 conference.

{So we thought it'd be good if they could build Flash-animated avatars of themselves to interact with that character online.{

The storylines of the series revolve around contrasting the three girls' perspectives on various adolescent events with that of the three boys.

The series, which will come as either 26×30' or 52×11', is currently in pre-production and will be delivered in September 2002.

The concept extends that of Decode's Angela Anaconda toon, in which viewers can e-mail images of their own faces, which then appear on characters on the Angela website.
