Deadpool duo land YouTube comedy

YouTube has commissioned an action-comedy series executive produced by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers behind the Deadpool movies, for subscription service YouTube Red.

Wayne was ordered to pilot in December and comes from writer and creator Shawn Simmons. The 10-episode series is produced by Endeavor Content and stars Sing Street’s Mark McKenna and Ciara Bravo from Big Time Rush.

Greg Coolidge (Ride Along) and Kirk Ward will exec produce alongside Reese and Wernick.

The show sees 15-year-old Wayne (McKenna) set out on a dirt bike with his crush Del (Bravo) to take back the 1978 Pontiac Trans Am that was stolen from his father before he died.

Iain B MacDonald (Shameless) directed the pilot, which features Dean Winters and Mike O’Malley as guest stars. Wayne will air on YouTube Red later this year.
