De Mol brings together media brands

John de Mol has brought his various media assets in the Netherlands under one company.

Talpa Network will bring the assets of Talpa Holding, which includes the Dutch commercial channels SBS6, Net5, Veronica, SBS9 as well as radio stations, alongside his recently acquired e-commerce company Emesa and online services Juke and Kijk.

De Mol took over the SBS TV channels earlier this year, buying the 67% it didn’t already own from Finland’s Sanoma.

The media tycoon said that the changes would allow more collaboration between the various companies and give it a better chance of competing against the likes of Google and Facebook in the advertising market.

According to Dutch reports, De Mol is keen to look at international content that Talpa Network can launch on its TV channels, provided the company is able to come on board as co-owner beforehand.

The move comes after De Mol sold The Voice producer Talpa Media to UK commercial broadcaster ITV in 2015.

De Mol continues to be responsible for the management of the company, as well as the creation and production of television formats and concepts.
