DCD shops drama into NZ, Canada

The Secrets She Keeps is adapted from the thriller novel by Michael Robotham

Channel 5 in the UK, Sky in New Zealand and CBC in Canada are among the international broadcasters to have picked up a slew of scripted content from London-based distributor DCD Rights ahead of Mipcom.

On The Ropes (4×60’), a Lingo Pictures Production for SBS in Australia, will travel to Screen Media Ventures for a US premiere on Crackle, as well as CBC in Canada and Rialto Channel in New Zealand.

Inspector Rojas: In Cold Blood (8×60’), a thriller from Villano Production for Chile’s Mega, has been picked up by Rialto and SBS.

The Hunting (4×60’), from Closer Productions for SBS, has also been picked up by Channel 5 in the UK, Sky New Zealand, RTÉ in Ireland, CBC in Canada, IVI in Russia and NPO in the Netherlands.

New dramas DCD will unveil at Mipcom include The Secrets She Keeps (6×60’), a thriller from Lingo Pictures for Australia’s Network Ten; Dry Water (6×60’), a Portocabo and SP-i coproduction with the participation of TVG and RTP; and the distributor’s first shortform drama series, Find My Killer (10×10’), from Screentime NZ for TVNZ OnDemand.

The Secrets She Keeps is a psychological thriller based on the novel by Australian author Michael Robotham, a dark tale of two women from different walks of life who each have explosive secrets.

It stars Laura Carmichael (Downton Abbey, Marcella, The Spanish Princess) and Jessica De Gouw (Arrow, Underground, The Hunting).

In Dry Water, Paulo Duarte is found dead from a gunshot wound in the port of Vigo but nobody is convinced by the apparent suicide.

Find My Killer is a shortform web-series that follows the digital investigation into the disappearance and murder of 17-year-old Mia Bryant.

Inspired by real events, this fictionalised story offers an insight into the fast-paced, information-laden, screen-fixated society we have become.
