DCD goes back to Open University

Windfall Films’ Magic Numbers: Hannah Fry’s Mysterious World of Maths

UK distributor DCD Rights has renewed its multi-year output deal to distribute factual content from The Open University (OU).

The agreement gives DCD Rights worldwide rights to 160 hours of factual programming from the OU, which was founded 50 years ago.

Since then, the OU, together with the BBC, has produced landmark programming, including Blue Planet, Child of our Time, Civilisations and Stargazing Live, that has helped viewers learn through television and radio.

The new multi-year deal with DCD Rights gives the distributor access to titles such as Magic Numbers: Hannah Fry’s Mysterious World of Maths, produced by Windfall Films Production.

Also included is the BBC-produced Empire of the Tsars: Romanov Russia with Lucy Worsley and Genius of the Ancient World, in which historian Bettany Hughes travels to India, Greece and China on the trail of Buddha, Socrates and Confucius.

“The Open University’s entertaining and inspiring factual programming provides a world of discovery for wide audiences around the globe,” said Nicky Davies Williams, CEO at DCD Rights.
