DC Universe originals shift to HBO Max

Doom Patrol launched on DC Universe before moving to HBO Max

WarnerMedia is winding down its OTT service DC Universe and replacing it with a comic book platform, with all DC original programming shifting to HBO Max.

DC Universe Infinite will launch in the US on January 21 next year, featuring more than 24,000 digitised comic books, before expanding internationally in the summer.

Meanwhile, WarnerMedia streamer HBO Max will be the home for DC Universe originals in future, including the recently ordered third season of adult animated comedy series Harley Quinn.

It comes after other DC Universe originals such as Doom Patrol moved to HBO Max, which recently ordered a third season of the show.

In future, HBO Max will be the home for new DC series, key DC classics and DC Universe originals such as Young Justice, Titans and season one of Stargirl.

DC Universe subscribers who want ongoing access to the original programming are currently being offered a discounted membership to HBO Max until October 30.

DC Universe launched in September 2018. Costing US$7.99 per month, it gives subscribers access to exclusive original live-action and animated series as well as classic TV series, films and digital comic books. However, the launch of WarnerMedia’s flagship streaming service HBO Max earlier this year put its future as a standalone streamer in doubt.
