Dave grabs unscripted comedy

UKTV channel Dave has commissioned an unscripted comedy chat show hosted by comedian and Jonathan Creek star Alan Davies.

The as-yet untitled project, to be produced by UK-based Phil McIntyre Television in association with Grand Scheme, will see Davies sit around a table with four other comedians and talk about any subject matter going. The 5×60’ show, to be filmed in front of an audience, is scheduled to air on Dave this summer.

“This is an exciting and audacious format that completely fits with Dave’s promise to provide contemporary entertainment starring the finest comedy talent,” said Steve North, general manager for Dave.

The executive producers are Lucy Ansbro from Phil McIntyre TV and Graham Smith from Grand Scheme. UKTV commissioning editor Iain Coyle is overseeing the series.

The Alan Davies project follows a raft of new commissions on the channel, including 24 Hours to Go Broke, Crackanory, Ross Noble Freewheeling and Dave Gorman’s Modern Life is Goodish.

North will be speaking on the UK Multi-channel Analysis panel at C21’s Schedule Watch Live conference, held at Bafta in London on Friday, February 21. To find out more and book your ticket, click here.
