Das Erste plays RTÉ gameshow

German channel Das Erste has ordered a local version of a family entertainment quizshow devised by Irish producer Adare Productions and broadcaster RTÉ.

Das Erste has commissioned a 10-episode run of Play It By Year, which will be produced by Constantin Entertainment locally.

The German version, So War’s! Das Quiz Der Jahrzehnte, is scheduled to air this summer on the public broadcaster.

The deal was brokered by RTÉ programme sales executive Laura Stearn and comes after the show made its debut in Ireland in December 2015.

It sees three teams go head to head in a test of memory, teamwork and general knowledge, answering questions based on archive footage.

“It’s the perfect format in that everybody, everywhere has memories that make them laugh, cry and cheer,” said Eddie Doyle, head of comedy, talent development and music at RTÉ.
