Das Erste orders culture clash comedy

German broadcaster Das Erste has ordered a comedy about a father facing a crisis of culture after his daughter introduces him to her partner.

Servus, Schwiegersohn (Servus, Son In Law) revolves around a man who has left his Turkish roots behind him and now feels entirely German. However, his daughter reveals she is set to marry a Turk, with the father then becoming intent on breaking up the relationship.

German outfit Yalla Productions is behind the show for production division ARD Degeto and broadcaster sibling Das Erste, with shooting taking place in Munich.

Mike Marzuk is attached as director, while Adnan Maral (Zaun an Zaun) stars and produces. The script was written by Mike Viebrock and Enno Reese, with ARD Degeto’s Stefan Kruppa editing.

Earlier this year, Das Erste acquired Kiwi detective drama The Brokenwood Mysteries from All3Media International.
