Andreas Prochaska will direct the eight-episode drama, which is being produced by London indie Eleventh Hour Films (EHF) in association with Sony Pictures Television (SPT).

Prochaska recently steered Sky Deutschland, Bavaria Fiction and Sonar Entertainment epic war coproduction Das Boot, which airs on Sky’s networks this month and has been picked up by platforms in more than 100 territories, including streamer Hulu for the US.

His other directorial credits include feature film The Dark Valley and TV movie A Day for a Miracle, which won an International Emmy.

EHF optioned the rights for the Alex Rider young-adult novels in June last year, with writer Guy Burt (Bletchley Circle, The Borgias) reimagining the works as an older-skewing family event drama.

SPT greenlit the show in July and the series will begin with the second book in the series, Point Blanc, which was published in 2001 in the UK and 2002 in the US.

SPT’s International Production and Worldwide Distribution divisions will produce with EHF and will handle sales internationally. EHF’s Eve Gutierrez and Jill Green executive produce alongside Horowitz and Burt.
