Dandelooo duo set up studio

The directors behind French animation production and distribution company Dandelooo are opening a studio dedicated to creative projects.

The new studio will work on shows such as Stinky Dog

Ooolala is being launched on July 4 by Emmanuèle Pétry-Sirvin and Jean-Baptiste Wery and will be independent of Dandeloo’s structure but a partner on productions and new shows.

The studio will be overseen by Vanessa Labarthe-Buttin and Jean Bouthors, who will work across production of shows including Chien Pourri (Stinky Dog), Dandeloo’s series coproduced with French prodco Folivari and their Belgian partner Panique!.

The 52×13’ animated series, which follows the adventures of a stray dog and his friend Flatty Cat, was recently the most attended pitch at Cartoon Forum in Toulouse and a finalist in the International Pitch at MipJunior last year. It is being broadcast by France Télévisions.

Pétry-Sirvin and Wery, co-directors of Ooolala, said the studio would “develop new ideas and new formats for new audiences: shorts, adult series, specials.”

The duo added it would also work with new artists and “encourage coproductions” with French and global partners. “We want to be very selective in editorial terms, just as we are with our choices in production and distribution, even if Dandeloo is not necessarily the sole producer of the projects we work on at Ooolala,” added the studio founders.
