CSI producers Louis Shaw Milito and Phil Conserva are launching an LA-based indie and have agreed a first-look deal with publisher Vesuvian Media.

Boilermaker Entertainment will focus on TV drama, feature films and unscripted programming.

The deal with Vesuvian will see it develop and produce the publisher’s extensive library, which includes work from authors Jonas Saul and Julieanne Lynch, for broadcast.

The company is already working on bringing multiple projects to the big and small screens, including the forthcoming novel based on the true story of pirate Black Caesar by Sam Davis and The Retreat, a new thriller by bestselling UK author Mark Edwards.

Milito and Conserva said in a statement: “We both love storytelling and the power and privilege to entertain an audience. Having worked together for many years, we are excited to bring our production experience and storytelling acumen to the market.

“Our alliance with Vesuvian’s growing library of IP, and Italia Gandolfo’s eye for great writing, creates a powerful partnership with almost endless opportunities to provide engaging drama to all audiences.”

Milito and Conserva are 15-year veterans of the long-running hit series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Milito was executive producer and director and was tapped by Bruckheimer and CBS to direct the two-hour series finale in 2015. Phil served as producer and director, overseeing post-production while acting as music industry liaison to the series.

The pair’s previous shingle, Rhino Pictures, was behind Discovery Channel’s unscripted series Cuban Chrome (8×60’), which was filmed entirely on location in Cuba.
