Crime pays for Tricon

AMC Networks International and CBS Studios International in EMEA are among the broadcasters to have acquired crime and factual series from Canadian producer and distributor Tricon Films & Television.

To Catch a Killer

To Catch a Killer (8×60′), a series that investigates unsolved murders, and I Didn’t Do It (7×60′), which exposes the untold stories of the wrongfully convicted, have been acquired for the CBS Reality channel, operated by CBS and AMC Networks in EMEA.

The latter show has also been picked up by Canal D in Canada, while The History Channel in Germany and Foxtel’s Crime & Investigation channel in Australia both went for To Catch a Killer.

For its History Channel, Foxtel has also acquired Paper Nazis (1×60′), an examination of two extremist groups that operated in Winnipeg during the 1930s, and Lost Bones: In Search of Sitting Bull’s Grave (1×60′), about the remains of the legendary Sioux leader Sitting Bull. SBS down under also picked up the latter doc for its NiTV channel.

Elsewhere, Metal Evolution (11×60′), which explores the phenomenon of heavy metal music, has been picked up by AMC Networks’ Spektrum channel in Central Europe and renewed by Sky Arts in the UK and ZDF Kultur in Germany.

Finally, Tough Love (2×52′), which takes a look at the inner workings of the child welfare system, has been sold to Channel 8 in Israel, while HRT Croatia has picked up Garbage (1×60′), about a family’s journey to see how their waste affects the world.
