Cream rises with production hire

Canadian outfit Cream Productions has appointed the exec producer of its recent PBS and National Geographic series The Dictator’s Playbook to a senior production role.

Matt Booi

Matt Booi has been made senior production executive at the Toronto- and LA-based prodco and will exec produce a collection of series and specials.

Booi has worked extensively with Cream, writing and producing some of its most well-known series, including Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan for BBC America, Smithsonian Channel’s Weapon Hunter, Breathing Fire: The Secret Weapon of the Somme for Channel 4 in the UK and Blood & Fury: America’s Civil War for Discovery-owned American History Channel.

His appointment comes a couple of weeks after Cream secured a commission from Investigation Discovery for a two-hour special about the double life and crimes of Dennis Rader, the infamous ‘BTK’ killer. The programme is set to air in February.

“Matt has been with us for over a decade and his versatility, intelligence and humour are things that we want infused into all of our projects,” said David Brady, CEO of Cream.
