Corus has secured the rights to the US cablenet’s content in English and French and will launch a Canadian version in September.

The launch slate will include Girl Meets World, Live and Maddie and KC Undercover. The deal also covers VoD rights to selected programmes, allowing for complimentary catch-up services.

The move follows the launch of millennial-targeted service ABC Spark in Canada by Corus in 2011, a channel based on Disney/ABC’s ABC Family in the US.

In the US, Disney Channel is geared towards the 6-14 demo. The 24-hour network is available in more than 96 million US homes and is watched by millions of viewers around the world.
