Conni, Mia secure more Euro homes

Networks around the world have acquired European animated coproductions Conni (26×11’30’’) and Mia & Me (26×23’) and are set to debut them this month.

Preschool toon Conni, which is coproduced by M4E and Telescreen and based on popular German children’s books, has gone to YLE (Finland), Zapp (Holland), Hop TV (Israel), Pop TV (Slovenia) and TV2 (Norway).

Pay-TV broadcaster Minimax has also acquired the show for Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Moldova, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Macedonia and Croatia.

The first 13 episodes of Conni are set to be delivered to German public broadcaster ZDF this month, with a second run of 13 set for spring 2012. The first Conni books published in 1992.

Meanwhile, girl-skewed adventure toon Mia & Me – which comes from M4E/Gerhard Hahn joint venture Lucky Punch, Italian toon house Rainbow, March Entertainment, ZDF and Ki.Ka – is also set for launch this month. Rai TV in Italy is already attached as a broadcast partner.

NATPE 2012C21 can reveal that French pay-TV broadcaster Canal+ will air the series this month, while TVI (Portugal), MTV3 (Finland), TV Puls (Poland), MTV2 (Norway), Ultra (Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina), Pop TV (Slovenia), MT (Indonesia), RTM (Malaysia), Thai PBS (Thailand) and Televisa (Mexico) have picked up local free-TV rights for 2012.

Furthermore, pay-TV broadcasters Canal Panda (Portugal), MTV Juniori (Finland), Pop Non-Stop OTO (Slovenia), Tiga TV (Thailand) and Etisalat’s E-Vision (United Arab Emirates) are also onboard, while Kazakhstan distributor Content Union has local rights for the territory. The deals were brokered by M4E’s sales arm and Rainbow.

The show follows the titular schoolgirl-turned-elf, as she battles with an evil queen bent on capturing an idyllic kingdom’s unicorns. A 26×24’ second season is in development, with Eastern European broadcaster Ultra already onboard.
