Comedy Central in the US has ordered a second series of original sketch series Key & Peele after the first secured the network’s highest premiere ratings for three years.
Key & Peele drew 2.1 million total viewers on its launch on January 31 – the highest-rated debut since 2009 – and after just two episodes, network executives have ordered another 10 episodes to air this fall.
The show, created by and starring Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, mixes improvisation and original characters with celebrity impressions. Key, Peele, Ian Roberts, Jay Martel and Joel Zadak are exec producers. Gary Mann and Monika Zielinksa are the executives in charge of production for the Viacom-owned cablenet.
