Comedy Central Lat Am picks up Fleabag

Golden Globe- and Emmy-winning comedy drama Fleabag

Comedy Central Latin America has acquired Phoebe Waller-Bridge hit comedy series Fleabag from UK-based distributor All3Media International.

Fleabag was written and created by Waller-Bridge and produced by Two Brothers Pictures for BBC3 and Amazon Prime. It won two Golden Globes earlier this month and also received six gongs at last year’s Emmys.

The show, about a London woman trying to make sense of the world and her relationships, ran to two seasons and stars Waller-Bridge, who last year signed a lucrative overall deal with Amazon Studios.

Fleabag will premiere on Comedy Central Latin America this year, with the exact date yet to be confirmed.

Additionally, the network is set to premiere S2 of Se Rentan Cuartos, its first original Mexican sitcom, later this year.

The channel is the latest international broadcaster to pick up Fleabag, following acquisitions by Japan’s Wowow, ABC in Australia and Sky New Zealand.

Waller-Bridge is launching her own London-based TV and film company called Wells Street Films to produce her new shows. She has hired Fleabag collaborators Jenny Robins and Charlotte McBrearty as head of television and film, and development exec respectively, according to Deadline.
