Comedy Central Germany to go 24/7

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) is turning Comedy Central into a 24-hour channel in Germany, with music network Viva set to be retired by the end of the year.

Comedy Central in Germany will become a 24-hour channel from January 2019, featuring a mix of local and international content.

The brand works with comedic talent including Ingmar Stadelmann, Maxi Gstettenbauer and Oliver Kalkofe in Germany.

It features local stand-up and short-form digital content as well as programming such as the satirical CC:N (Comedy Central News) and the local version of Takeshi’s Castle: Thailand.

The network also airs US fare such as The Daily Show, Friends and South Park.

“The Comedy Central brand has demonstrated consistent successful performance in Germany,” said Raffaele Annecchino, president and MD of VIMN Southern and Western Europe, Middle East and Africa.
