CNBC passes ITV Studios’ Job Interview

The Job Interview

Business and financial news network CNBC has greenlit a series based on UK fixed-rig format The Job Interview as part of its new fall line-up.

The show will join programmes such as The Profit, Adventure Capitalists and Secret Lives of the Super Rich on CNBC following a deal with ITV Studios Global Entertainment.

The Job Interview airs on Channel 4 in the UK and hails from ITV Studios prodco Label1. It uses multiple cameras to film real employers conducting real interviews with real candidates. CNBC’s 10-episode season, produced by ITV Entertainment in the US, will begin airing on October 25.

The commission comes after C21 revealed the first international version of the show, for SBS in Belgium, in October last year.

“Our primetime shows speak to the strivers and the dreamers, people looking to build a better life – and that’s what makes The Job Interview a perfect fit for our line-up,” said Jim Ackerman, executive VP of primetime alternative at CNBC.

CNBC also has Empires of New York and Buy Your Own Business (both working titles) in development.

The former is produced by The Intellectual Property Corporation with Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman as executive producers. The docudrama series interweaves the stories of New York City’s most powerful icons over the course of the 1980s.

Buy Your Own Business, meanwhile, is produced by Brian Graden Media with Brian Graden and Dave Mace exec producing. It follows self-made entrepreneur Dennis Mulgannon as he helps people escape the rat race and buy the existing small business of their dreams.

The network has also greenlit new seasons of Billion Dollar Buyer, American Greed, The Deed and The Deed: Chicago.
