Cartoon Network Studios will produce Fungies!

US kidscaster Cartoon Network has greenlit a new original series developed as part of its studio’s international artists initiative about a mushroom kid who lives in a prehistoric town.

The Fungies! will be produced by Cartoon Network Studios and follows a character who loves science and discovery but often finds himself causing hilarious problems for the utopia of Fungietown and its colourful inhabitants.

It is expected to debut next year and was created by Stephen Neary, an executive producer and showrunner on Cartoon Network’s Clarence.

Cartoon Network Studios is also set to produce more seasons of originals Craig of the Creek and Victor & Valentino, which will enter their third and second seasons, respectively.

Co-created by Matt Burnett and Ben Levin, Craig of the Creek follows the precocious Craig as he leads his two best friends on comical journeys at their neighbourhood creek, transforming everyday afternoons into thrilling expeditions through imaginative play.

Victor & Valentino premiered in the US and Latin America simultaneously earlier this year and is inspired by creator Diego Molano’s fascination with mythology and Mesoamerican culture.

Molano was also discovered through the studio’s global artists programme, which aims to create a pipeline of diverse and emerging talent for the WarnerMedia-owned network.
