Cartoon Network Studios (CNS) will produce the new series, which will premiere in fall 2016 around the world and in 2017 in North America on Cartoon Network.

US writing team Man of Action will executive produce for CNS, while John Fang (Mixels, Generator Rex) is on board as supervising producer.

The new episodes will re-introduce the energetic, fun-loving 10-year-old Ben Tennyson on his summer vacation as a world of alien superpowers opens up to him.

The character premiered on Cartoon Network in January 2006 and has gone on to generate more than US$4.5bn in global retail sales to date for Cartoon Network.

The franchise has also spawned three spin-off animated Ben 10 series (Ben 10 Alien Force, Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, Ben 10: Omniverse), as well as multiple movies.

“We decided it was time to introduce Ben to a new generation of kids,” said Cartoon Network chief content officer Rob Sorcher.

“Ben 10 has been an overwhelming success story across all media platforms, and we know kids around the world will be eager to see the reinvention of this beloved character.”

The new Ben 10 series will sit alongside another returning Cartoon Network show, The Powerpuff Girls, which is also due to return in 2016.
