Cloudco recruits, opens London office

Cloudco Entertainment, the US kids’ prodco formerly known as American Greetings Entertainment, is growing its senior executive and sales teams and opening an office in London.

Robert Prinzo

Robert Prinzo has been named head of global licensing and will be based in the company’s LA office. He was previously VP of consumer products at Saban Entertainment and has also worked at Hasbro and Nickelodeon.

Prinzo’s prior brand portfolios include My Little Pony, Transformers and GI Joe at Hasbro and Spongebob Squarepants, Dora the Explorer and South Park at Nickelodeon/Viacom Consumer Products. He will report to Cloudco Entertainment president Sean Gorman.

Also joining the LA office is Davis Doi, who has been hired as an executive producer. The seasoned animation director and producer began his career at Hanna-Barbera and has producing credits on Jonny Quest, Powerpuff Girls and several Scooby-Doo titles.

Davis Doi

Doi joins Cloudco from Universal, where he served as supervising director on the forthcoming Curious George animated series and the most recent Land Before Time movie. He will now oversee new animated preschool series Tinpo, a coproduction with Dentsu Inc and OLM/Sprite animation for CBeebies. He reports to Ryan Wiesbrock, Cloudco’s head of development and production.

The final addition in LA is Susan Chung, who arrives from Multicom Entertainment Group as head of business affairs.

Moving to the sales side, Cloudco has also hired Alexandros van Blanken as director of content distribution. A former investment manager for the film and TV division of financing entity The Ingenious Group, van Blanken is based in the new London office and reports to Karen Vermeulen, Cloudco’s head of global coproduction and content distribution.

Vermeulen is also assuming increased responsibilities as MD of the new Cloudco UK, reporting to Gorman.

In addition to Vermeulen and van Blanken, the London office will house Cloudco’s director of international licensing, Roubina Tchoboian, who was previously based in LA.

The expansion follows the news earlier this month that Turner-owned kids’ SVoD service Boomerang was rebooting Cloudco’s iconic children’s property Care Bears.
