CJ ENM aims to make Small Fortune

Small Fortune involves a series of miniaturised games

South Korean broadcaster CJ ENM has acquired the gameshow format Small Fortune from UK-based distributor DRG.

Small Fortune sees teams of friends and family compete in tiny games set in miniaturised worlds in order to with cash prizes. CJ ENM has licensed a four-part pilot version of the format which is set to premiere on its tvN network in February.

The gameshow  has also been optioned by Sony Pictures Television in a pan-regional deal for Latin America, as well as by Nordic Entertainment (NENT) Group in the Nordic territories.

Emmanuel Grinda, sales executive for South-East Asia and Japan for DRG, said: “The team at CJ ENM has a brilliant reputation for finding great formats for its channels, so we are pleased that Small Fortune has made it on air with them and await the results of this pilot series with interest.

“Small Fortunes successfully supplies lots of jeopardy and emotion and as it can be so readily tailored, with miniature versions of local landmarks or famous places, we are confident that it will be a big success.”

The format was originally devised by Youngest Media and commissioned as a 6×60’ series by UK broadcaster ITV and is due to launch in the US on NBC in 2020.
