CiTV catches Sardine comedy

ToonMarty was originally commissioned by Corus Entertainment

A UK broadcaster has acquired a slapstick comedy produced by Montreal’s Sardine Productions and distributed by Barcelona-based GoldBee.

CiTV, the children’s channel of commercial broadcaster ITV, will air ToonMarty (40×11′).

The series was originally commissioned by Corus Entertainment in Canada for its Teletoon French- and English-language networks and premiered on both in May this year.

Set in a town where all cartoons live, the series follows its only employee as he goes on adventures with the inhabitants.

The property has been supported by the Bell Fund, the Canadian Media Fund, the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit, Tthe Shaw Rocket Fund and the Société de Développement des Entreprises Culturelles.

Other broadcasters to have acquired the show include Nickelodeon, which took it for its international channels and catch-up services around the world, excluding North America, China and Japan.
