Cineflix restructure puts jobs at risk

The ongoing restructure at production and distribution outfit Cineflix Media could see a number of redundancies made in its distribution arm, and a relocation of its London base.

Consultation over the potential redundancy of six staff at Cineflix Rights, split between the administration side of the business and the sales and acquisitions teams, is underway.

Noel Hedges, a former ITV Studios Global Entertainment and Shine International exec, is said to be one of those whose role is under threat, having joined as senior VP of acquisitions just over a year ago.

Other roles within Cineflix Media are being considered for the staff. The process is ongoing, with the business operating normally in the meantime, according to a spokesman.

The move is part of a wider restructure first reported in July, which saw Cineflix Media’s activities in Canada scaled back and focus shifted to the UK and US parts of the business.

The changes currently taking place could also see Cineflix Rights moving out of its current London base and joining the Cineflix Productions at their office nearby.

A statement from the company said it was still operating as normal in the run up to Mipcom in October.

The statement said: “Cineflix has been restructuring its divisions over the last few months and as a result is talking to a small number of staff in its rights division about what this restructuring might mean for their future roles.

“Meanwhile, it is very much business as usual in the lead up to MIP with several acquisitions deals recently signed and a raft of sales deals in the lead up to the market.”
