Charter unveils LA’s Finest as first original

US media giant Charter Communications has commissioned its first original TV series, a spin-off from the 2003 action movie Bad Boys II starring and executive produced by Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba.

LA’s Finest (13×60’) will be made by Sony Pictures Television. It was created by writer Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier who will exec produce and showrun.

Jerry Bruckheimer and Pam Veasey will also executive produce and Veasey will co-showrun the project.

The series is based on Union’s character Syd Burnett from the film and follows two LAPD detectives with chequered pasts as they solve crimes.

In January, Charter added Katherine Pope as head of originals to support the company’s co-financing and creation of new series for Spectrum.
