Channel 5 takes ABC’s Pulse

Pulse follows a transplant patient driven to become a doctor

Viacom-owned UK terrestrial Channel 5 has picked up an Australian medical drama from ABC Commercial to add to its streaming service, My5.

C5 has agreed a two-year deal for Pulse with the commercial arm of the Australian pubcaster, making the series available on My5 from August.

The 8×60’ medical drama originally aired on the ABC down under. Inspired by a true story of a transplant patient who became a doctor, Pulse is set in and around the transplant unit of a busy Sydney teaching hospital.

When successful high-flier Frankie Bell (Claire van der Boom) suffers chronic kidney failure she decides to change her life. Eight years on she is a doctor driven to use her second chance to save others.

Pulse is a Clandestine Beyond Production in association with the ABC, Screen Australia and Screen NSW.
