Channel 5 flies with Red Arrows

The Red Arrows first took flight in 1964

Viacom-owned UK terrestrial Channel 5 has commissioned a docuseries from local prodco Shiver focusing on celebrated aerobatic display team the Red Arrows.

The Red Arrows: Kings of the Sky (6×60’) will tell the story of the renowned squadron’s creation of a new display for the Royal Air Force’s centenary year, with the RAF having formed in April 1918.

As well as access to what happens in the air, the series will also explore the work of the ground crews, engineers and backroom teams who make it all possible.

ITV Studios-owned Shiver will produce the series, which is due to launch on C5 on January 9. Mike Blair, head of consumer and current affairs at Shiver, will exec produce. The show was commissioned by Guy Davies, commissioning editor for factual at C5.
