Channel 4 hires fact ent commissioner

Channel 4 in the UK has hired a commissioning editor for factual entertainment from local indie Label1.

Gilly Greenslade

Gilly Greenslade is joining the team and will report to head of factual entertainment Kelly Webb-Lamb, the former Shine MD who joined the broadcaster at the start of 2016.

Greenslade joined Label1, the indie run by Simon Dickson and Lorraine Charker-Phillip, as a development executive in January 2016.

At Label1 she has been series producing BBC2’s factual show Hospital, a second season of which is in the works. Her credits also include stints on Channel 4 formats The Job Interview, Wife Swap and Faking it and BBC1’s The Apprentice.

Webb-Lamb said: “Gilly is rare in having the breadth of experience we need in factual entertainment. She has dedicated her career to making programmes that entertain while offering a commentary on the world around us, and we are really lucky that she is bringing her passion for the genre to the channel.”

Greenslade said: “Working alongside Simon and Lorraine has been an incredible experience and while I’m sad to be leaving at such an exciting time for Label1, I am delighted to be joining Kelly and the factual entertainment team at Channel 4.”

Channel 4 added ex-BBC show The Great British Bake Off to its factual entertainment slate in a controversial deal with the format’s producer Love Productions last year.
