Celestial Tiger grows Mandarin network

Pan-Asian channels operator Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE) has expanded the reach of its kids’ channel in Asia after partnering with a cable operator in the Philippines.

Miao Mi, a Mandarin edutainment channel created for preschool kids across Asia, has launched on SkyCable in the Philippines.

It marks the latest market launch for the channel, which arrived in Indonesia in 2016 and is also available in Singapore.

The channel airs animated series sourced from across Asia, including Peet: The Forest Detective, Math Fun With Ria, Peek-A-Boo, Pleasant Goat Fun Class, Duda & Dada and Miao Mi Classroom.

These programmes come from children’s content providers primarily from China, Korea and Japan, and are all dubbed in Mandarin.

“Western entertainment programmes are the norm among Pinoy kids, hence there is a growing demand among parents in the Philippines looking for relevant alternatives that entertain children from a unique Asian perspective,” said Ofanny Choi, executive VP for TV networks at CTE.
