CBS unveils four comedy trailers

UPFRONTS: The CBS network has unveiled trailers for four of its new comedy offerings for next season, namely fall series Bob (Hearts) Abishola, The Unicorn and Carol’s Second Act, plus midseason’s Broke.

From award-winning exec producer and writer Chuck Lorre, Bob (Hearts) Abishola is a love story about a middle-aged businessman from Detroit who unexpectedly falls for his cardiac nurse, a Nigerian immigrant.

Billy Gardell and Folake Olowofoyeku star in this show, which will air on Monday at 20.30 from this fall. Lorre, Eddie Gorodetsky, Al Higgins and Beth McCarthy-Miller (pilot only) are exec producers for Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros Television. 

Single-camera comedy The Unicorn is about a tight-knit group of best friends and family who helps a man embrace his ‘new normal’ in the wake of the loss of his wife. It will fill the Thursday 20.30 slot from this fall.

Bill Martin, Mike Schiff, Aaron Kaplan, Dana Honor, Wendi Trilling, Peyton Reed and John Hamburg (pilot only) are executive producers for CBS Television Studios. Hamburg directed the pilot from a script by Martin and Schiff.

Carol’s Second Act is a comedy about a woman who embarks on a second phase of her life by training to be a doctor at 50 years old. Patricia Heaton stars in this show for the Thursday 21.30 slot from this fall.

Emily Halpern, Sarah Haskins; Patricia Heaton, Adam Griffin, David Hunt and Rebecca Stay (Four Boys Entertainment); Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor (Kapital Entertainment); and Pamela Fryman (pilot only) are exec producers for CBS Television Studios. Fryman directed the pilot from a script by Halpern and Haskins.

Broke is a comedy about a single suburban mother whose estranged sister and family move in after their money dries up. Jaime Camil and Pauley Perrette star in this midseason offering.

Emmy winner Alex Herschlag, Jennie Snyder Urman, Joanna Klein, Ben Silverman, Jaime Camil, Guillermo Restrepo, Gonzalo Cilley and Maria Lucia Hernandez are executive producers for CBS Television Studio, Sutton Street Prods and Propagate, with creative partners RCN TV and Resonant TV.
