CBS Studios finds Finnish drama

MIPCOM: Scandinavian drama is continuing to attract the interest of US executives, the latest pick-up being Finnish drama format Black Widows.

The format was licensed from distributor DRG and former HBO Entertainment president Sue Naegle is now developing it with CBS Studios.

The show, from Nice Entertainment prodco Moskito, originally aired as Mustat Lesket on Nelonen.

The series proved a hit for Nelonen when it premiered this spring, generating a 30% share, the channel’s highest ever rating for a drama series.

The 12-part Finnish version revolves around three best friends who decide to rid themselves of their husbands and change their lives for the better.
