CBS set for Bake Off

US network CBS has picked up the format to hit BBC series Bake Off.

The programme features skilled amateur pastry chefs completing baking challenges over several weeks in a bid to be crowned the series winner.

CBS has commissioned Love Productions to make a US version which it intends to air next year. The executive producer is Richard McKerrow.

The third season finale of the UK version Great British Bake Off aired on BBC2 on Tuesday and attracted a peak audience of 7.2 million – its highest figures yet.

Local versions are already airing on DR in Denmark and TV4 in Sweden, where it is smashing the channel’s ratings records. It has also been sold into France and Australia.
