The new role will make Nevins the highest ranking creative exec at CBS with oversight of programming, marketing and research for its entertainment arm and TV studios, while he will also work across programming for its streaming service All Access.

Nevins will also oversee content for US network The CW and has been named chairman of Showtime Networks, while remaining the business’s CEO.

Nevins has been with CBS Corp since 2010, replacing Bob Greenblatt at Showtime. He was promoted to CEO at Showtime in 2016 and during his tenure was behind shows such as Homeland and Billions.

CBS has also named Christina Spade and exec VP and chief financial officer at CBS Corp as part of further rejigs as a result of Moonves’ exit.

The veteran media exec left CBS in September following allegations of sexual misconduct and was replaced on an interim basis by Joe Ianniello while CBS searches for a full-time replacement.

Ianniello said Nevins had “a brilliant creative mind and an impressive track record of success at Showtime and in the entertainment industry.”

“He is a forward-thinking leader who has driven programming excellence and subscriber growth for the cable network and its growing over-the-top service. The combination of David working with the outstanding and proven creative leaders we have in place will continue to build our position as a global premium content powerhouse,” said Ianniello.

Nevins said: “We have great strength in the creative leadership across the company’s content divisions and I am excited to get to work with the talented teams that run CBS’s programming services.

“Together, we are committed to growing our businesses, offering industry-leading shows that are among the most powerful and most loved across broadcast, streaming and premium cable.”
