CBS goes on Training Day

US network CBS has ordered a TV pilot based on the 2001 feature film Training Day, with the movie’s director on board the new show.

Antoine Fuqua will oversee the pilot, which has been penned by Castle scribe Will Beall, a former LAPD officer, with Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman attached as exec producers.

Warner Bros Television and Fuqua Films will produce with Jerry Bruckheimer Television. No actors are yet attached to the show, which is to be set in the present day.

The Warner Bros and Village Roadshow Pictures movie starred Denzel Washington as a corrupt LA policeman who is partnered with a new starter, played by Ethan Hawke. Washington won an Oscar for his role while the movie took more than US$75m at the box office.

Fuqua has most recently been behind Jake Gyllenhaal movie Southpaw and is also working on a remake of gunslinger The Magnificent Seven for 2016.

CBS is already turning fellow film Rush Hour into a TV show, while ABC is remaking Uncle Buck and Fox is revamping Minority Report for television.
