CBS boards Rush Hour remake

US broadcaster CBS is returning to the big screen for its latest project, after ordering a pilot for a TV version of action movie Rush Hour.

The show is being exec produced and written by Bill Lawrence (Cougar Town) and Blake McCormick and follows the movie plot, which sees a Hong Kong cop partnered with an LAPD officer to investigate a spate of crimes in Los Angeles.

The original movie, from New Line Cinema, starred Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker as the two detectives.

Warner Bros TV is producing along with Lawrence’s prodco Doozer, with McCormick, New Line director Brett Ratner, who was behind the movie, and Arthur Sarkissian attached as exec producers.

CBS has also ordered pilots for Super Clyde, about a worker in a fast-food restaurant who decides to do better for himself, and Joe Time, which is written by Bill Wrubel, who previously exec produced Modern Family.

Joe Time follows a downbeat man who is convinced everyone else is enjoying their lives more than he is enjoying his.
