CBC scores football drama

Canadian broadcaster CBC has commissioned an eight-episode drama series set in an under-21 football academy in Montreal.

21 Thunder (8×60′) is being produced by PMA Productions and Generic Productions and is due to begin airing on the Canuck pubcaster in summer 2017.

The series follows the lives of players in a fiercely competitive under-21 soccer academy on and off the field, covering topics such as crime, race, sex and sport.

“This riveting drama will offer audiences a fresh and diverse perspective on the world’s most popular sport and what it takes to play ‘the beautiful game’ at the pro level,” said Sally Catto, general manager of programming at CBC Television.
