CBC leads Brassic buyers

Sky1 comedy Brassic made its debut in August

Canadian pubcaster CBC is one of five broadcasters to pick up Sky original comedy Brassic from ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVSGE).

Created by Joe Gilgun (Misfits) and Danny Brocklehurst (Shameless), the first 6×60’ season of Brassic premiered in the UK on Sky1 in August, becoming the network’s biggest original comedy series launch since 2012.

The British comedy follows a group of working class friends who find unconventional ways to win at life. It is produced by Calamity Films, with Gilgun, Brocklehurst, David Livingstone and Jon Mountague exec producing.

As well as CBC in Canada, Australia’s ABC, Rialto in New Zealand, Canal+ in France and Spain’s Comunidad Film have also picked up the series.

ITVSGE, which is distributing the programme, said several more sales in major territories are likely to close in the coming months. Sky has commissioned a second 6×60’ season.
