CBBC gives Winkler series third run

UK children’s channel CBBC has extended DHX Media and Henry ‘The Fonz’ Winkler’s series Hank Zipzer into a third season.

The renewal comes before the second season of the comedy-drama, coproduced by CBBC, Kindle Entertainment, Walker Productions and DHX Media, airs on the channel in August.

The show is inspired by Winkler’s book series Hank Zipzer: The World’s Greatest Underachiever, based on the actor’s experiences as a young boy growing up with dyslexia.

Distributor DHX Media has previously sold the first two seasons to international broadcasters including Disney in Spain and Australian pubcaster ABC.
