CBBC, BBC Wales adapt Spider books

The Snow Spider will debut next year

UK children’s channel CBBC and BBC Wales, the Welsh arm of the UK pubcaster, have commissioned a drama based on a book trilogy by author Jenny Nimmo.

Produced by Argonon Group’s Leopard Pictures, 5×30’ fantasy drama The Snow Spider has been adapted for television by Owen Sheers.

It will air on the two channels in 2020, telling the story of a boy who receives five enchanted gifts from his grandmother on his ninth birthday.

Leopard Pictures MD Kristian Smith is exec producing, with Lindsay Hughes producing.

“Jenny Nimmo’s Snow Spider Trilogy has been adored by generations. The magnificent Owen Sheers has adapted the first book in this timeless series, bringing the messages of hope, magic and understanding to modern audiences on CBBC and BBC Wales,” Smith said.
