Cartoon Network, Disney adopt Oswaldo

Oswaldo

Cartoon Network and Disney have both acquired Brazil-India coproduction Oswaldo for their international networks.

Cartoon Network will air the 52×11′ animated comedy in Italy, Israel, Turkey, the Middle East and Africa, while Disney has taken broadcast rights in South-East Asia.

The series comes from Birdo Studio in Brazil and India’s Symbiosys Entertainment. It follows the adventures of a penguin adopted by human parents who must face the challenge of surviving school.

The deals with Cartoon Network and Disney were brokered by Brenda Wooding of US-based children’s and family entertainment company Kid Glove. UK-based Jetpack Distribution handles rights in the rest of the world in conjunction with Kid Glove.

The first 13 episodes of Oswaldo premiered on both Cartoon Network and TV Cultura in Brazil last year.
