Cartoon Network adds comedy, renews two

Summer Camp Island has been given a second season

WarnerMedia-owned US kids’ channel Cartoon Network has added two adventure comedies to its programming line-up and renewed two of its current series.

Produced by Cartoon Network Studios and Titmouse, Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart follows crime-fighting samurai cat Mao Mao and his faithful sidekicks. The eight-episode series will premiere on Cartoon Network on July 1.

The second new series, Tig N’Seek, is a lighthearted mystery show about eight-year-old Tiggy and his cat Gweeseek, who can make gadgets. Created by Myke Chilian, the show is expected to debut in 2020.

Meanwhile, Summer Camp Island will return for a second season on June 23. Created for Cartoon Network by Julia Pott, it follows an elephant and a hedgehog who attend a magical summer camp.

Apple & Onion is also set to return to Cartoon Network this autumn, with a full season pickup. Created by George Gendi, the series follows best friends Apple and Onion, who live in a world populated by anthropomorphic food. The returning season will feature YouTube star Timothy DeLaGhetto and The Great British Bake Off’s Sue Perkins.
