Cartoon Forum to focus on Finland

Cartoon Forum 2017, where 82 projects were pitched

Finland has been chosen as the country to go under the spotlight at the annual Cartoon Forum event in September, where 86 projects are set to be pitched.

Finland follows Poland last year and Ireland in 2016 in being the country of focus at the event, which is now in its 29th year and will be held in the French city of Toulouse.

France will provide the most projects, 28, followed by the UK with nine. It marks a return to the usual strong presence from UK companies at the event, after a sharp drop in entries from the country in 2017, when just four UK projects were pitched.

Meanwhile, there will be eight companies from Germany pitching, compared with three last year. Belgium will bring seven and Spain will bring six, while Italian and Finnish firms will bring three each.

Other countries set to feature include Norway, Hungary, Serbia, Ukraine, Greece, Austria, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Iceland, Cyprus, Poland and Ireland.

A South Korean project and two Canadian shows will also be presented, as part of Cartoon Forum’s ongoing collaboration with sister event Cartoon Connection, which is held in the two countries.

Last year’s event saw 82 projects pitched over the course of the three-day event, while 80 were pitched in 2016 and 91 in 2015.

A full list of projects set to be pitched at the event, which takes place between September 10 and 13, can be viewed here.
