Cartoon Forum sets out safety measures

Cartoon Forum 2019

The organisers of annual European copro and pitching event Cartoon Forum have set out the health and safety rules that will allow it to go ahead as planned in France in September.

With online registration now open, Cartoon Media has updated participants about the ways the event, due to take place in Toulouse between September 14 and 17, will be adapted to ensure the safety of all delegates.

This follows the French government authorising firms to organise events with fewer than 5,000 participants and lifting border restrictions within Europe.

To avoid any spread of Covid-19, participants will be required to socially distance, wear a mask and clean their hands as often as necessary, Cartoon Media said.

Wearing a mask will be mandatory inside the event, with delegates required to wear one mask in the first half of each day and another for the second half.

At the time of writing, Cartoon Media has not been asked to take the temperature of each participant upon entering the event.

Cartoon Media has also made changes to the rooms where participants pitch their projects to allow delegates to keep one metre away from one another.

All “social” aspects to Cartoon Forum, such as the official dinners, lunches and cocktails, have been cancelled, with the event prioritising meetings where participants can do business.

Cartoon Media added that “if the health situation should evolve in a positive manner by the time of the Cartoon Forum, we might consider reviewing these decisions.”

Other changes include the cancellation of the Cartoon Tributes awards and the postponement of the ‘Spotlight’ feature, where a specific country is focused on at the event.

Full details of the changes are available here.
