Carousel, Wow make Dr Panda appointment

Russian children’s channel Carousel and Wow Unlimited in Canada have picked up animated preschool series Dr Panda.

The 3D animated series has also been acquired by True Visions in Thailand, Somos TV for multiple Spanish-speaking territories and Mola TV in Indonesia.

Ireland-based 9 Story Distribution International is shopping the 39×7′ series and has previously announced deals with Cartoonito in Italy, YLE in Finland and TVNZ in New Zealand, among others.

9 Story acquired worldwide distribution rights to Dr Panda, excluding China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and select rights within MENA, in September 2018.

Based on the app franchise, Dr Panda is the first 3D series built on the IP. A second 39×7’ season is now in production, with delivery anticipated in fall 2021.

The show was developed for the three- to six-year-olds by Lin Yan with Giggle Garage (Origanimals, Kazoops, Cam and Leon) and Spider Eye (Jungle Junction, Thomas & Friends, The Happos Family).

The series is written by Daan Velsink (Panic!, Snapshot, Bingo!) and Chris Parker (Peppa Pig, Shaun the Sheep), and directed by Patrick Chin and Wip Vernooij (Moshi Monsters, Wellie Wishers).
