Cargo ships factual content

Current TV in the US, ABC in Australia and ServusTV in Germany are among the broadcasters that have bought factual titles from New York distributor Cargo Film & Releasing.

Current has taken filmmaker Summer Preney’s doc Sounds Like a Revolution, about activist musicians whose work has become a tool in the struggle for social change, for a summer airing.

New York PBS station WNET has acquired Badge of Pride, directed by Min-Sook Lee, which profiles four gay cops who come out in a profession that is traditionally anti-gay. The doc will air this month.

Elsewhere in the US, digital network Ion Life has taken Downright Domestic, a 26-episode series offering lifestyle tips.

Internationally, Cargo has sold To Be Heard, a film about three friends from the Bronx who change their lives through poetry, to ABC in Australia and Swedish educational network UR.

ServusTV and YLE in Finland have taken The City Dark, which focuses on the loss of the night sky, while Love Translated, about men who tour Ukraine looking for potential brides, has gone to TVP in Poland, RTS in Switzerland and Denmark’s TV2.
